As a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the Government of India started the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to encourage people to bring home the Tiranga and hoist it in honour of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.
The manner that citizens have ever interacted with their nation’s flag has always been formal and solely institutional. This campaign intends to emphasise the value of citizen engagement while also making nation-building more of a personal experience for the citizen.
Prime Minister Modi has accelerated this effort by requesting that everyone fly the national flag at their houses between August 13 and August 15.
The main objectives of this campaign are to increase public knowledge of the Indian flag and to encourage patriotism in people by forging a personal bond with the flag.
To ensure that there are as many flags as possible accessible to support this campaign, the government has also allowed the use of polyester and the machinery for creating the flags.
The previous law permitted flags made of khadi, cotton, wool, silk, and bunting material to be hand-spun and hand-woven.
